The most prominent feature of B4C is its extraordinary hardness (Mohs hardness of 9.36, microhardness of 55GPa~67GPa), which is second only to diamond and cubic boron nitride. In addition, boron carbide has a low density (2.52g/cm3), a high melting point (2450 ° C), and high high-temperature strength, good chemical stability (boron carbide generally does not react with chemical reagents at room temperature, and only slowly corrodes in a mixture of hydrofluoric acid sulfuric acid and hydrofluoric acid nitric acid, making it one of the most chemically stable compounds).
